The issue of toxicity has arisen because of our excessive use of foods, drugs, and environmental toxins. Abuses, addictions, and exposure to toxins from our water, air, and food touch almost everybody’s life. Numerous pollutants can enter our body through our lungs, digestive tract, or even through the skin. Combine this with a poor diet that does not support optimal cellular function and the results upon health can be immense.
People should detoxify/purify for health reasons, weight loss, vitality, and renewal, which means to clear symptoms, treat disease and be proactive for future problems. A detoxification/purification program is a great way to reevaluate our lives and make appropriate changes.
Some of the most common signs and symptoms of toxicity include:
Detoxification (also known as internal cleansing or purification) has been in use for over 100 years. The body removes toxins by the direct filtration from the liver or by excreting those toxins as part of the bile or urine after the toxins have been processed by the liver.
The liver has many roles in detoxification. It filters the blood, produces and secretes bile, and enzymatically processes toxic chemicals. A healthy liver function also supports the body in burning fat for energy, the key to weight loss.
Most Americans address their weight issues by trying the quick-fix weight loss programs. Because these programs don’t usually look at the long-term needs of the body, permanent results don’t occur and the pounds just come right back. Some people, when they lose weight improperly, look and feel unhealthy.
The ideal weight management program does take time. It needs to be gentle, reduce excess fat stores, be high in fiber and lower in fat, and ensure that the amount of metabolic energy being used is greater than the amount of calories consumed.
Think of our bodies like cars with a main fuel tank and a reserve tank. When one tank runs dry, the engine draws fuel from the reserve tank to meet its needs. Our bodies run in a similar fashion. For example, a person walks for 20-30 minutes. During this time, the person has burned off the main fuel—the sugar in the blood, liver, and muscles. Once that fuel is depleted, the body turns to fat (the reserve fuel tank) for additional energy.
A purification program that provides the body nutrients, more specifically the liver, is important for detoxification and weight loss. It must incorporate specific whole food ingredients, vitamin and mineral complexes, and phytonutrients to support the body’s elimination routes, lymphatic system, and blood chemistry.
Exercise also is recommended with a detoxification/purification program. It is important to get your lymphatic system moving.
If you are interested in losing weight and improving your overall health to feel more productive and energetic, consider incorporating a detoxification/purification program to achieve those goals.
